Dr. Péter Darák, President of the Curia attended the European Court of Human Rights’ solemn hearing for the opening of the 2017 judicial year

The President of the Curia participated at the European Court of Human Rights’ solemn hearing for the opening of the judicial year and a preceding seminar on 27 January 2017 in Strasbourg.

The seminar was attended by many prominent representatives of the European countries’ judicial systems, including Supreme Court presidents and Constitutional Court presidents, and focused on the topic of “Non-refoulement as a principle of international law and the role of the judiciary in its implementation”.

At the seminar, speeches were delivered by Mr. Guido Raimondi, President of the Court, by Mr. François Crépeau, the UN’s special rapporteur on the human rights of migrants and by Mr. Ledi Bianku, Judge at the Court.

At the solemn hearing following the seminar, the President of the Court and Ms. Silvia Alejandra Fernández de Gurmendi, President of the International Criminal Court gave speeches.
