The Ambassador of the United States of America to Hungary was received by the President of the Curia of Hungary in his office

Prof. Dr. András Zs. Varga, President of the Curia of Hungary received H.E. David Pressman, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United States of America to Hungary, in his office at the Curia on 16 November 2022. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Judit Gyarmathy, Secretary General of the Curia of Hungary, Dr. Lipót Höltzl, Head of the International Department of the Curia of Hungary and Dr. Zita Bencsik, Head of the North-America Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.

Ambassador Pressman arrived for an introductory courtesy visit which is a traditional act for the heads of the foreign missions accredited in Hungary and held talks with the President of the Curia and his staff members. During the visit, the Hungarian Chief Justice spoke about Hungary’s thousand-year-old constitutional tradition, mentioned the 800-year-old Golden Bull and presented the role of the 300-year-old Curia in the administration of justice in Hungary. At the end of the meeting, the President of the Curia, at the request of Ambassador Pressman, showed one of the Curia’s courtrooms and a portrait gallery of the former Presidents of the Curia.
